Gala Information

  • Level 1 - National Events in long course pools, qualifications are required.
  • Level 2 - Qualifications are required. Swimmers must have registered a qualifying time for each event they wish to enter in a previous level 3 gala, and this may need to have been swim within a given timeframe.
  • Level 3 - Open to all swimmers to enter any event they wish. They do not need to have raced previously. There may be upper cut off times i.e. swimmers cannot enter if they have registered a time quicker than the cut off limit. Swimmers may enter with no times (NT). If the gala is oversubscribed, some entries may not be accepted by the organiser.

Gala entries will be made in the following way

  • Information and Gala Pack will be sent out via WhatsApp Group once received.
  • Individual Entries are sent to BuckleyGala@hotmail.com stating Name of Swimmer, Event and Distance.
  • Entries will then be collated and a confirmation message will be put out via WhatsApp Group for parents and swimmers to check. Only amendments need to be emailed, if you are happy with events, you do not need to do anything else.
  • Entries will then be sent to the event organiser.
  • Event organiser will then send out a confirmed entry list (depending on entries into the gala and upper limits for events, some swimmers may be removed from certain events or placed on a reserve list, the club has no control over this).
  • Once entries have been confirmed, individual swimmer payment details will be sent out via WhatsApp group. This should be paid into the Buckley Swimming Club Account with reference of swimmer name and gala. 

Could you help us to support your child's gala development?

In order for us to enter any of the galas mentioned above, we are obliged to provide officials for time-keeping and judging duties.  To ensure that we can continue to enter these galas and provide our children with the competition needed to develop their skills we would be really pleased to hear from parents / carers willing to train as Judges.  We are hoping to run judge training at Buckley Leisure Centre in the very near future.
Although there will be some oral questions there is NO formal theory exam involved. As a judge you would only ever be asked to officiate at galas which you would already be attending with your child.
